Questions

We’ve had some great questions about the camp. Please see below for more information about some of the logistics of the weekend.

What are the plans for the weekend?
Weather dependant, we will be offering a hike on Wednesday and Thursday of the camp. These will be hikes up to 8km in length and take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to complete. As we are camping by the lake, there will also be opportunities to go swimming and explore the surrounding areas in nature.

We will also be having some structured times of faith-based discussion and sharing throughout the camp which aims to encourage one another in our walks of faith and connection with Jesus.

How can I help?
We need drivers! Our campground booking has permits for 5 vehicles. If you have an SUV / 4WD / Car with space for luggage, please consider being a driver and helping transport people and luggage to and from the campgrounds. You can let us know if you are willing to help in your registration.

How do I pay?
Payment can be made via bank deposit to the following details.

Moonee Ponds Baptist Church
BSB: 033 062
Account Number: 640 899
Reference: Camp Eildon – [Your Name]

Do I have to bring along my own water?
We recommend that everyone brings along a supply of their own water. There will be access to treated and untreated water at the campground. We won’t be hiking to the camp site, so there is no need to worry about excess weight.

Will there be access to hot water or a way to boil water?
Yes. Some leaders are bringing along their own burners, and fire ban dependent, there will be a fire which can be used as well.

What is the toileting situation?
Devil Cove Campground provides access to flushing toilets and hot showers. There will be no need to be digging holes with a shovel.

What if I don’t have my own tent?
Please let us know in the form upon registering. It would be most helpful if you are able to bring along your own tent. We have an array of spare tents which we have used at State Youth Games which we can draw upon.

What meals do we need to bring?
Please provide food for the following meals:

  • Tuesday Dinner
  • Wednesday Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
  • Thursday Breakfast

Please provide money for the following meals:

  • Tuesday Lunch
  • Thursday Lunch

What are some meal ideas?
When it comes to meals, we recommend pre-cutting and portioning out food beforehand. This makes meals much quicker and easier on the day.

  • Instant noodles
  • Freeze-dried or dehydrated meals (Really easy, just add water!)
  • Wraps / Rolls / Sandwiches (Using cured meats such as salami are a great option, hard cheeses work well too)
  • Pasta (a simple tomato-based sauce that can be warmed up / pesto pasta)
  • Canned tuna or other proteins
  • Crackers / chips as snacks
  • Bread and spreads
  • Milk powder is great to add to tea/coffee and cereals/oats.
